Flighty Words By Patty Johnson

Words, words, words
Words fly away
So many

So free
Can’t catch them
Or recapture them

When they’re
Flapping adrift
They must be

As they glide
In thin air
Vaguely hovering

At the tip of the,
Right at the tip of
A cliff

Unable to take
I know what I want to

But, but
Oh, it’s right on the
Let the pen

Oh, flighty words

Patty Temple,PJ Temple, poetry, authorPatty Johnson enjoys writing about spirituality, culture, justice and other bizarre and beautiful intricacies of life. She is a health psychologist, which has inspired many reflections and narratives about mental illness. Patty has also written a memoir about an Indian girl, her secret American boyfriend, her two very angry parents who eventually find out, and the unraveling of the whole hot mess. This story has cultivated over years and has surely been one of Patty’s babies, minus the teenage drama. Speaking of teenage drama, Patty has two lovely daughters. Her husband is a patient guy and thankfully the dogs are both boys.

  1. I really like Patty’s poem, the music, the rhythm in it, inspirational.
PS Nicola, your draft short story ‘ Secrets Lies & Friendly Spies’ link throws up a ‘page not found’ message. Would love to read it.
