Exquisite – A 200 word Story

neck kiss exquisite lips close up

Today’s Daily Prompt from the gurus at The Daily Post is exquisite. This is a one word prompt designed to tickle the muse into creating a post that you otherwise might never have committed to screen.

After brainstorming the word for all of five minutes I came up with a concept. Next followed a wordy draft which I pared down into the 200 word story below. I am a bit out of practice so I hope it still captures your attention.

Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Exquisite

He closed his eyes and breathed gently at her slender neck. Warm currents of sweet honey and languid sunshine rushed his head as she shifted almost imperceptibly in his arms. She breathed silent, shallow breaths as he kissed a trail to the soft hollow in her delicate shoulder. The gentle thrum of her heartbeat vibrated through his cool lips, distracting his reason.

He closed his eyes, quelling his need to hurry. He’d waited so long for this divine creature, rushing now would ruin the delicious agony.

No human had ever enraptured him so completely. She has no equal. Savouring every sip of this ethereal being will challenge even his control. The anticipation is almost its own reward. Almost.

He shuddered with the promise of such sweet affliction and she stiffened, as if sensing danger for the first time. He caressed her hair, soothing her alarm, and she relaxed into him as she would a cherished lover.

His tongue traced small circles on her neck, rolling her bouquet around his mouth and delaying his ecstasy for a moment longer. The call of her blood pierced his resolve. He savoured one last memory of sunshine, then sank his teeth into his exquisite tormentor.

You write 200 word stories but the challenge is a six word story. It’s your blog. You make the rules. I try blogging but the response is very, very, very, very, small.

“Devine” should be “Divine”, unless you meant “De-vein”. 🙂

I like the pace and slow build of seduction until he succumbs to his passions.
