Happy Friday Storytellers,
Not only is it Friday and the very last day of September, it’s also payday! There’s so many happy things to say about that combination.
This week, I left you the prompt of Muffled. This particular word came about following a Twitter conversation in which it was suggested for the challenge. I liked the idea so much that I used it. I hope you enjoyed writing for it as much as I did.
The prompt was interpreted in many different ways this week, from the physical muffling of screams leaving people’s mouths to the more subtle dampening of sounds and emotions.
My take on the prompt was:
Censorship invigorated them. Resistance wasn’t futile.
As you can see, I chose to interpret muffled as an adjective describing [their] repressed freedoms. We can surmise as to the other oppressions they suffer, and that their resolve is fuelled by the attempts to control them. We also learn that their attempts to overthrow whatever form their oppressor takes have been successful.
I hope you enjoyed taking part, let’s announce this week’s winners:
This week, first place is tied between:
Dave Johnston with his story ‘Screams not heard, six feet under’
Haylee with her story:
“… … he’s…inside…he-”
Second place goes to:
WhatSandraThinks with her story ‘Mysterious eerie mumblings. Checking the basement.’
Third place goes to;
Maryruth16 with her story ‘Before hearing aid nothing made sense’
Congratulations to all of this week’s winners. As usual, please feel free to download and use one of the below badges on you blog.
